Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration
You're in a junior role and want to develop your skills to become a future team leader or business manager. You need practical knowledge of more complex administrative support, perhaps supporting meetings and events or retrieving information.
You complete 4 mandatory units:
- Manage own performance in a business environment
- Improve own performance in a business environment
- Work in a business environment
- Communicate in a business environment.
You also choose optional units (usually around 3-6) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles.
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration
You have some knowledge and experience of administration systems. You want to develop your skills to implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems, perhaps to move into a management role.
You complete 4 mandatory units:
- Manage own performance in a business environment
- Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment
- Work in a business environment
- Communicate in a business environment.
You also choose optional units (usually around 6-10) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles
Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration
You are working in or want to work in a business support role. You're interested in learning how to carry out everyday administrative tasks.
You complete 3 mandatory units:
- Principles of personal responsibilities and working in a business environment
- Principles of providing administrative services
- Principles of managing information and producing documents.
You also choose at least 2 credits' worth of units from the following options:
- Principles of supporting change in a business environment
- Principles of supporting business events
- Principles of maintaining stationery stock
- Principles of working in the public sector
- Principles of project management
- Principles of contributing to innovation and change.
Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration
You're fairly new to administration or have worked in an administrative role for some time. You'd like to prepare to move into a leadership role by learning how to effectively supervise others and contribute to wider departmental or organisational change.
You will complete 4 mandatory units:
- Principles of personal responsibilities and how to develop and evaluate own performance at work
- Principles of working with and supervising others in a business environment
- Principles of managing information and producing documents in a business environment
- Principles of providing and maintaining administrative services.
You also choose at least 2 credits' worth of units from the following options:
- Principles of supporting change in a business environment
- Principles of maintaining stationery stock
- Principles of working in the public sector
- Principles of project management
- Principles of contributing to innovation and change.
Apprenticeship in Business and Administration (level 2)
The learner must successfully complete the following:

Level 2 Certificate for Children and Young People's Workforce (England)
The level 2 qualification is aimed at anyone working in a supporting role. This could be as a nursery assistant, child care worker, crèche worker or special educational needs assistant.
The Certificate is a generic qualification that will be relevant across the Children and Young People's Workforce. It is mapped to the CWDC Induction Standards and the Children's Care Learning and Development National Occupational Standards.
You must gain a minimum of 35 credits to achieve the qualification. 31 credits will come from the mandatory group of units and 4 credits from the optional group B units
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's workforce
The level 3 Diploma is aimed at those people already working in the Children and Young People sector. For example, you may be working as a Practitioner, child minder, Nursery Nurse, Community worker or as a learning mentor.
You must gain a minimum of 65 credits to achieve the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma.
To do this you must achieve 27 credits from:
- All 4 units of the Skills for Care and Development shared core
- All 7 Children and young People mandatory core units.
You must then select one mandatory occupational pathway from:
- Early Learning and Childcare (22 credits)
- Social Care (13 credits)
- Learning, Development and Support Services (13 credits).
The remaining credits must be achieved from a choice of optional units.

Level 2 & level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (England)
What are the qualifications about?
This wide-ranging Diploma covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a wide range of health or social care settings.
It is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care. You can choose a pathway that suits your role - for example, working with people with a learning disability, people with dementia or children and young people.
This is the main qualification required by the Quality Care Commission in England and the Care Councils in Wales and Northern Ireland.
Who are they for?
These are the recognised qualifications for care workers and senior care workers in health and social care.
To take the Level 3 qualification you must be working in a care setting already. For the Level 2 qualification, you might have no previous experience, or you might be working in care and want recognition for your current skills.
The level 2 qualification you must gain a minimum of 46 credits to achieve the qualification. 24 credits will come from the mandatory group of units and 7 credits from the optional group B units and at least 15 credits from the group C units. Your assessor will guide you with the choice of units.
The level 3 qualification you must gain a minimum of 58 credits to achieve the qualification. 28credits will come from the mandatory group of units and 7 credits from the optional group B units and at least 23 credits from the group C units. Your assessor will guide you with the choice of units.

You have some experience in customer service and are able to handle more difficult customers. You are looking to improve your own skills and to become more involved in making improvements to your team's level of customer service.
You complete 2 core units:
- Communicate using customer service language
- Follow the rules to deliver customer service
You also take 20 credits' worth of optional units. You choose at least 1 unit from each of the following 4 groups.

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Customer Service
At this level, you are able to respond to customer issues at a strategic level, suggesting improvements to customer service strategy and helping in their implementation.
